Essentials of the Faith

God created man with divine intent to fulfill a divine purpose. Essentials of the Faith leads the reader on a path of recovery of the essential truths of that divine intent.

This series creates a solid, systematic understanding of who we are in Christ and how we live out that divine purpose.

Essentials of the Faith is the basic discipleship training material of Citipointe Church and is comprised of six units.

Children of the Greater God

Several years ago a movie was produced that bore the name Children of a Lesser God. Immediately upon seeing that title plastered across marquees, I was amazed at the appropriateness of the title —- not for a movie title, mind you — but rather, as a synopsis of the average American Christian’s theology. Too many Christians understand that they are children of God — but live like they are children of a lessor god.

Getting to know Grace

Ben pulled his car over to the side of the road. He wiped the dust from his face and cleared a spot on the windshield. He peered down the two lane road that stretched in front of his classic ’69 Mustang. Just exactly where he was and how he got there was a real puzzlement to him. As he surveyed the surrounding landscape, he could not locate a single familiar landmark. Even the topography of this land was different. This land should be flat and dry. But instead it was filled with slow rolling hills and green grass. He was having real trouble putting this all together.

Living In Hope

Hope is such a wonderful possession. Without hope life becomes a tedious continuum of fear, failure and suffering. But with hope life becomes a profound odyssey of faith where the greatest of obstacles are nothing more than small hurdles in the quest for the fulfillment of promise. Hope is defined as “a wish or desire accompanied by confident expectations; to look forward to with confidence or expectation.” Hope is always looking forward with excited anticipation.

Love

As the driver started the engine and the Land Rover inched its way down the path, they reached through the window for one last touch – one more handclasp, one more eye to eye. With tears flowing down their faces they blew the kisses of goodbye. What language was incapable of expressing, they said with their eyes, “I love you. I love you.”

Those Crazy Christians

“These men who have turned the world upside down have come here to our city as well.” Paul and Silas, two of the prominent preachers in the early church, had just crossed from the Roman province of Asia into the province of Macedonia. They left Asia because they had been forbidden to preach in that region anymore. Now one might assume the edict against their further work in Asia had come by the hands of the Roman government. But such is not the case
